EGON Sensor shares the application of photoelectric sensors

2022-09-13

Photoelectric sensors are currently one of the most produced and widely used sensors, which are widely used in military, aerospace, communications, smart home, intelligent transportation, security, LED lighting, toys, detection and industrial automation control, and other fields.

Applications of photoelectric sensors:

First, the photoelectric sensor smoke turbidity monitoring
Preventing industrial soot pollution is one of the important tasks of environmental protection. In order to eliminate industrial soot pollution, the soot emission must first be known, so the soot source must be monitored, automatically displayed, and exceeded the standard alarm. The turbidity of the soot in the flue is detected by the magnitude of the change in the transmission of light through the flue. If the flue turbidity increases, the light emitted by the light source is absorbed and refracted by the soot particles increases, and the light reaching the light detector decreases, so the strength of the light detector output signal can reflect the change of flue turbidity.
The smoke alarm also uses a photoelectric sensor as the core component, which can be used to measure the concentration of smoke, which is composed of infrared light-emitting diodes and phototransistors, but the two are not on the same plane (with a certain angle). In the smoke-free state, the phototransistor cannot receive infrared rays; When the smoke enters the sensing room, the smoke particles will scatter part of the beam to the phototransistor, and when the concentration of smoke gradually increases, more beams will be scattered to the sensor, when the beam reaching the sensor reaches a certain level, the buzzer will send an alarm signal.

Second, the photoelectric sensor counts in the money counter
One of the indispensable components of a money counter is a photoelectric sensor. The counter of banknote counter adopts non-contact infrared photoelectric detection technology, which has the advantages of simple structure, high accuracy, and fast response.

Third, the photoelectric sensor is applied to the automatic meter reading system
With the development of microelectronics technology, sensor technology, computer technology, and modern communication technology, photoelectric sensors can be used to develop automatic meter reading systems. The aluminum disk of the energy meter rotates by the torque generated by the eddy current and magnetic field. The use of photoelectric sensors converts the number of revolutions of the aluminum disk into the number of pulses.

Fourth, photoelectric sensors are applied in automatic production lines
The photoelectric detection method has the advantages of high precision, fast response, and non-contact, and is widely used in light industry automatic machines.

Fifth, the application of photoelectric sensors in automobiles
In-car entertainment/navigation/DVD system backlight control to display the ideal backlight brightness in all ambient light conditions; Backlight control of rear-seat entertainment displays; instrument cluster backlight control (speedometer/tachometer); automatic mirror brightness control (usually requires two sensors, one forward-facing, and one rear-facing); automatic headlamp and rain-sensing control (dedicated, varies according to demand); Rearview camera control (dedicated, varies according to needs).

Sixth, the application of photoelectric sensors in consumer electronic products
Recent advances in semiconductor-similar sensors and package development have enabled end users to have a wider range of choices in light sensors. Small packages, low power consumption, high integration, and ease of use are the reasons why designers are adopting light sensors more often in consumer electronics.
